How can I set up a self clearing Sales Ledger Account to self clear any invoices sent to it?
Answer
This is mostly used for internal accounts and can save time so you don't have to post credit notes or payments to match off against the invoices.
If you go to Accounts - Sales Ledger - Transaction Accounts and search for the account you wish to make self clearing. There is a a parameter under the Invoicing section called Internal Invoice Nominal.
If we select the amend button, the box will become available to edit. We can drill into the box to search for the required nominal.
If you press amend and enter a nominal code into that parameter all invoices posted to that account code will create another internal line to the nominal you enter and allocate the invoice to it.
Note: This does not happen with sundry postings, only workshop or parts invoices
