In this guide, I will go through what is the cause of deferred work not showing correctly on a new workshop booking. This is caused by the dictionary item having the same work required type as the differed work required type was set when differing the work. The below scenario will show how this happens and how to correct if from happening in the future.
If you are in the process of deferring work via Workshop > Jobs > Additional Work
When you get the option to select the work required type, and for example you select other as shown in the below screen shot.
When you then go to invoice the job and you have the pop up of the work deferred displayed below to book back in at the date deferred.
When you close this and complete the invoice. Then go back to book the customer in for the deferred work via Workshop > Booking > New Booking
When you add the customer and the vehicle details you will then be presented with the Outstanding work pop up. You can then add this as required by putting a tick in the boxes on the right and select accept.
Now this will be displayed on the job card under the customer requirement as Work Required.
However when selecting the operations of the description of the work required you can see that this is being displayed as 18K service and not what the actual description of the work required is.
To amend this to display the correct operation text from the deferred work, navigate to;
Workshop > Parameters > Dictionary
Find the dictionary code it is pulling through and double click into it and you will see the work required type is set to Other. as per the previous example. As the work was deferred and the work required type to was set to Other, it will pull the dictionary code through if the same work required type is set.
To stop this from happening you will need to select amend at the bottom and change the work required type to please select.
When amended please select save.
Now when you defer any work with a work required type set to other this will now display the correct description of the deferred work and not the dictionary item.
