Within the Pinewood DMS system, there are a number of basic methods of navigation of the system. The images are designed to enable a new user of the system to know what to look for.
The Left Hand Menu
When first logging into the system, the left hand menu bar appears. This is the first route of navigation around the system, and is used to access the various system modules and processes. The appearance of the left hand menu follows a simple set of conventions, and these are detailed below:
• Selecting the module heading from the menu will position that module at the top of the menu.
• A symbol on the menu denotes that clicking this item will open a sub menu.
• A symbol denotes that this item has been clicked on and the sub menu behind it is being displayed below.
• A symbol denotes system process that can be entered by clicking on the word adjacent.
• The ‘New Session’ button will open a new Pinewood DMS window that can be used in addition to the existing one – useful for comparing information in different areas of the system.
• The ‘Log Off’ button is used to terminate your current Pinewood DMS session. It is important to log off from Pinewood DMS before using the cross
at the top of the screen to close the window.
When a system process is accessed via the left hand menu, the screen opens up to display the other navigation conventions used by the system. The two images on the following page display the final three methods of navigation.
Process Buttons
Various buttons are visible at the bottom of the screen – each of these run through a different process. A convention of Pinewood DMS is that the buttons shown at the bottom of screen are used to complete or amend tasks, to information stored on the system.
Located towards the lower section of the screen are ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ options.
• Selecting the ‘Previous’ or 'Back' option will move the display back by one page.
• Selecting the ‘Next’ option will move the display forward by one page.
Located directly at the bottom of the screen are ‘System Buttons’. To carry out a process, click on one of the buttons.
Screen Tabs
Other methods of navigation around the Pinewood DMS system are screen tabs and link fields. This page is taken from a vehicle stock record.
By clicking on each ‘Tab’ across the top of the screen it will display a different area of the Vehicle Stock Card (for example).
This convention remains true throughout the entire system. The ‘Tab’ currently displayed on the screen is highlighted in orange.
Link Fields
Certain areas of the system are linked and can be drilled into further. For example in the below we are viewing the Vehicle Stock Card;
If you drill into the Vehicle Details Box, this will display further information on the customer linked to this.
Some columns you can hover over and further explanations regarding these columns appear;
