Question
Where to find the nominal that Insurance Excess posts to?
Answer
If you are wondering where to post a workshop insurance excess to, please follow the steps detailed in the article below. In order to find the nominal that insurance excess is posted to you must first find out which Accounting Group the Sales Ledger Account is set against.
To find your sales ledger account that you are invoicing to you will need to go to Accounts > Sales Ledger > Transaction Accounts. For this particular example we will use the CASHS account but this could be any account within the site you are operating in. Within the transaction accounts tab, search for the Account Code or Name in order to pull through the account. This is shown in the below screenshot:
When you have searched for the correct account you are invoicing to, you can drill into the line of this account to view its details. When drilling into the line this will automatically take you to the transaction account tab that details the information of the account. Within the analysis box on this page you will see what A/C Group the account belongs to. For this example, the A/C Group is โMain Ledgerโ
This is shown below:
You should now know your accounting group, now go to:
Accounts > Nominal Ledger > Ledger Parameters, then once you can see the Global Accounts Tables list on the left hand side select: Divisional Accounting Group > Select Accounting Ledger
Once within this screen drill into the division you are in then select the ledger โMain Ledgerโ as displayed below:
See that within the parameters tab under โDivisional Accounting Group โ Main Ledgerโ you have the default debtorโs nominal within the nominal ledger section (W01000) which is where your insurance excess will post. This is shown below:
