The option to make the selection of at least one of the ‘Allowable Contact Methods’ at the top of the contact preferences screen non-mandatory is now available.
For this parameter to work you will need to have the Data Protection questions set up on the system – for further details of this please see the GDPR Set Up Guide.
This parameter will be set to on by default so unless turned off one of the ‘Allowable Contact Methods’ will need to be ticked before the contact preferences can be updated.
The ‘Allowable Contact Methods Mandatory’ parameter is found within: CRM > Parameters > Communications > Data Protection – and in the Consent tab.
With this ticked you will need to select at least one ‘Allowable Contact Method’ when updating a customer’s contact preferences before you can proceed with update. This will look as below with none selected:

With this parameter turned off you will be able to click Update with the contact preferences screen as below:

The customer’s preferences will then display as below when viewing a read only version of their preferences:

The customer can now not be contacted in any way, even for legitimate interest purposes, by a user as they have not consented to be contacted using any of the allowable contact methods.
